Anyone else going? We went last year and it probably was the most fun day I had all year (though I did, admittedly, get a little sloppy at the end of the evening).

Like last year, since we live in KC and my mom lives out in St. Peters, we got a room at the Sheraton -- right across the street from the Civic Center, which is perfect for catching the bus down to Soulard.

Here's all the info about the shuttle on Metro's Web site.

My friends from college and I would never miss STL Mardi Gras, unless we decided to go to New Orleans instead. I was recently talking to a whole bunch of newer acquaintances who are also transplants, and was shocked how many haven't been yet--and all have been here 3+ years!

Last year was right around freezing but sunny. I'm to the point in my life where I almost always choose comfort over fashion, so I just wore my long down coat and I was as warm as can be! Heck by mid-afternoon with the sun shining and a few beers in my system I was really very warm!

Some years have just been heinously cold. Definitely the biggest flaw for Mardi Gras in STL!

It's a tradition we look forward to every year. Friday night we do the Mayors Ball at city hall. It's a black tie affair where everyone is decked out to the 9's in masks and MG stuff, full brass marching band, umbrellas, jesters, trannys etc. It really is something out of a movie.

Then we head down at 7am on Saturday and do the the party tent and meet up at Soulard house parties. I love drinking hurricanes at 7am, and being in bed by 5pm.

It's our favorite weekend of the year.

Man, it's starting to look more like rain -- but they're still calling for temps in the 50s so I'll be hoping for the best.

As most probably know the north end of the parade route is more family friendly and the farther south you get the more debauched it tends to get. As such, we'll be down near the end again this year at 7th and Geyer.

If anyone wants to suggest a good bar to hit up about 1 (as the parade is winding down but before things get totally insane inside) I'm definitely up for suggestions. I'd love to meet some of you crazy kids!
