I saw the Pappy's spin-off restaurant in Soulard opened this week--has anyone stopped by? Curious if it'll be just as good as Pappy's, just without the lines (at least in the beginning).

Finally went yesterday... amazing and totally Pappy's comparable!

Some co-workers, who are devout Pappys devotees, said that it's not as good as Pappys. Personally, I think Shaved Duck is the best BBQ in St. Louis, but Pappys is great too. I can't vouch for Bogarts yet but that pic sure looks good!

I love Pappy's too and wasn't disappointed at all. Thought it was great! One pro? A HECK of a lot easier to get in and out of than Pappy's, at least while Soulard Market is still dead. I think this place is going to take off though. It was a great lunch!

I always hear rave reviews about the Shaved Duck. Maybe I just went on an off day, but the one time I went, it was significantly less than spectacular. Barely mediocre, actually. I was pretty bummed. Fiance won't bother going back.

WHAT?! That is by far and away the favorite of the gf and I. And we like a LOT of places. The pulled chicken with their sweet sauce is just incredible. Oh and their mac n cheese...ugh so good. They also have a very good rotating draft beer selection. And the laid back yet sophisticated ambience is just perfect.

What's shocking to me is just how few people have even heard of it...which I guess is fine because you don't want to it get too busy - like Pappys.

We ordered a ton of food because we had a restaurant.com coupon--the mac and cheese was the highlight of the meal, but the meat and appetizers were so disappointing. I rely on Yelp for a lot of restaurant recs, and this was one of the very few I've really disagreed with.

Well dang. I know someone else who was diappointed with it but pretty much everybody we know that's tried it agrees it's the best. I guess it's easier for BBQ places to have "off nights".

Its a tie between Pappys and Shaved Duck. SD is in my neighborhood, so its pretty much torture not to eat there all the time. I don't think I've ever been disappointed.
