Hi there. My boyfriend and I will be moving to St Louis this summer so he can start his new job at Barnes Jewish hospital. We are looking to rent in a safe crime free/low crime neighborhood closeby. Any recommendations? We are looking to spend under $1000 for one bedroom. We don't mind driving as long as it's within 30 minute. Thanks!

I would look in Richmond Heights, Brentwood, Maplewood, Clayton-All safe, inner-ring suburbs

fyi, my neighborhood, the Moorlands, in the inner ring suburb of Clayton is at least 15% Asian.

I moved to STL from CA a few years ago. What part of CA are you coming from?

I would check out the Loft District Downtown or the Central West End. All diverse, safe, and seem to be what you are looking for.

Within an easy commute to work would be walkable, urban neighborhoods, inner-ring suburban neighborhoods with older homes and a more family feel, and newer, suburban neighborhoods. On your budget you can afford any, so it really just depends on what you are looking for.

If you share a little more aboutthe kinds of places you like we can probably make more targeted suggestions.

University city is a good fit as well. There is a very large Asian community on the Northern end of U City. I live on the Southern end of University City and it takes me less than 5 minutes to get to Asian grocery stores, restaurants, other Asina businesses that have concentrated themselves on Olive Blvd. Several parts of U City also have great access to Metrolink, which has a stop at Barnes.
