What can you tell me about this school district? What is your personal experience (in the last 5 years - not 10+ years ago please)? We are going to start renting a house in Affton/St George that is in the Bayless school district. My son is 1 year away from Kindergarten. I thought Bayless was an average south county district but I just realized that a lot of people have never heard of it (which may or may not be a good thing), and that it has a very large Bosnian population within the district. I actually don't know many Bosnians at all, but have met a few that were very nice.

Their websites aren't very informative.

Well I cannot personally speak to the current state of the district as I graduated in 2004 but here's my take on Bayless anyway. It's a decent enough district that lacks the resources and money to be a great district. Some of the teachers are very good, some of the students are very good, and there really aren't any major problems to speak of. The Bosnian community has integrated very well into the area and have caused no problems as far as I know.

The biggest issue I had with Bayless is that they really just don't know have the resources they need. They really should merge with the surrounding districts so they'd at least be on par with Mehlville and Lindbergh. The major plus of such a small district is that it has a great community feel and everybody knows each other. Overall I would say that's just good enough, but there are better options in St. Louis county.

Nice area. I think you should set up an appointment with the elementary school, have a sit down and take a tour. Maybe they have an open house night.
It's a fairly well known district. I thought you were in Kirkwood. Moving again?

Disclosure - I don't have kids

Thanks guys. "Good enough" is good enough for now. I decided we should move somewhere that it may actually be possible that we buy in so my son could start out in his school district (which doesn't include Kirkwood). Looks like that might not have happened, which sucks. Oh well, I guess we'll just move...again.
