I am a young woman fresh out of college who is moving to the St. Louis area from a smaller southwestern Missouri town. I am sort of familiar with the area but not particularly well-versed as far as neighborhoods and where it is safe to live. I want to live by myself but my price range is very limited because I will be taking a paid internship and can only afford, at the max, $425/ month for rent. I don't need much, just a studio or a smaller one bedroom, but I have been looking at Craigslist and searching on-line and have just been getting confused as far as knowing where it is safe. I am currently in Omaha working at another job and won't be able to make it back down to STL until August to look and I start my job in September sooooo I was just wondering if anyone knew of anything that I should look into? I'll be working in the city and have a vehicle so I am not concerned about that. Please let me know, I would be very thankful if someone could help me out.

That is going to be tight without a roomie, but I do think it can be done as long as you're flexible. It's probably a touch early to find something available in September, but narrowing down neighborhoods would be a good bet.

Where will you be working?

Below are examples of places that would work. All of the neighborhoods are pretty safe.

This is a fantastic neighborhood: Studio in heart of Grand South Grand includes everything (http://stlouis.craigslist.org/apa/2443783092.html - broken link)
This is in a fairly safe city neighborhood: 2 large rm apt. appliances (http://stlouis.craigslist.org/apa/2465578280.html - broken link)
This is in the same neighborhood as the first one I posted: Near Tower Grove Park / St. Louis U (http://stlouis.craigslist.org/apa/2476572231.html - broken link)
This is a pretty OK county municipality: 1 Bedroom Apartment Close To UMSL & Close to Ferguson (http://stlouis.craigslist.org/apa/2451706557.html - broken link)
Far south side of the city: 1 BEDROOM APT NEAR CARONDELET PARK/ $20.00 APP FEE (http://stlouis.craigslist.org/apa/2476399049.html - broken link)
