Does anybody know what the Gate District is like? If it would be safe for a single guy looking to buy?

If you haven't, give this a look over: St. Louis City Talk: The Gate District Neighborhood -- This guy did a write up of all of the city's 79 neighborhoods and is a great tool for those looking to settle in a new spot!

The Gate district is a mixed bag, and while it's probably not on most people's list of top-tier neighborhoods it does have good access to some great neighborhoods and lots of job/school centers. Are you looking at one of the odler or newer houses?

I recently purchased in the Gate District - Lafayette at Compton. I think the area has great potential and my developer has not had any crime issues with the properties while they are being rehabbed. He said that is highly unusual. With that said, I would never live anywhere without an alarm system.
