I am moving to St. Louis in August and need to find an apartment to rent. I am interested in the Central West End area, but so far have not found any good complexes. Does anyone have any recommendations of where to look? I would also be interested in a city loft, but don't know where to start. I would like to stay under $1000/ month. Thanks for any help.

Look downtown on Washington Ave. Start with the Ventana, Ely Walker Lofts, Bogen, Lucas Lofts, University Lofts, Fashion Square, Bell Lofts, 10th street lofts. Its a vibrant neighborhood with plenty of things going on and safe. Let me know if you have more questions.

Lofts will be hard to find in Central West End, which is mostly full of more vintage-style units. If you do want a loft I second brickmama's downtown suggestion. If you haven't, be sure to check out Craigslist for listings; that's how most people I know in St. Louis find their apartments.
