Thanks to a suggestion from a good friend here in Edwardsville, we all trekked over to the great city (that would be St. Louis to us) and had a fabulous dinner. It got me thinking - what St. Louis/St. Louis area restaurants are faves for people on this forum? I'm looking for the unique, not-so-well-known restaurants. A place you would almost have to be told about in order to visit.

My choice, after a great meal on the patio last night, is Yemanja Brasil Restaurant at 2900 Missouri Avenue. I can't say enough about their Bobo de Camar√£o. Absolutely delicious! You can google them - their menu and location info is on their site.

So come on all you great MO folks, where do you like to eat in St. Louis?

I love going to Old St. Charles the little shops .. I cant recall the names of the ones I have ate at ... One had an outside area to eat .. we had wine that was fabulous and ..I cant recall our meal ... oopsies! lol

The Old Spaghetti Factory The Old Spaghetti Factory : Welcome

I really would LOVE to try Indian food from India - but nobody in my family wants to have spices - ahhhhhhhhhh so who knows maybe one day!

We ate at the Lemp Mansion The Lemp Mansion Restaurant and Inn
very good food ... comfortable atmosphere .. very enjoyable Sunday Dinner - Family style. .. Look forward to going back again!

There is a little family ran place .. near the circle..its on the corner has a bar and a dinner hall as well. ... I cant recall the name but we just took my husbands grandfather there for his birthday .. seems to be a Older folk favorite .. Grandpa loves going there .. (its alright nothing great) but when his grandma was alive ..it was her favorite place too ..we had lots of family memories made there ..

Oh and do not forget Tony's - best pizza ever!

1111 Mississippi is one of my favorites. It's the name and address. You will love everything on the menu. Also, the owner also has another restaurant in the same Lafayette Square neighborhood, Vin de Set (which is also the address in French you are on the hook for translating that!) it has rooftop dining that is to die for. Good luck

That's a good call as are a few of its neighbors.

As to the original poster, what types of places, that's a pretty broad list.

Any place that doesn't serve Fish Tacos. Kidding!!! I love fish tacos! Any kind of place - I know it is broad, but looking for anything from a good burger to the elegant dining.

I used to be a big fan of Zia's on the Hill, but the last time I was there they had replaced the salad with salad soup. Seriously, a little bit of dressing goes a long way.

I'm in the process of moving to St. Louis, but I've been there many times.
A friend of mine took me to a Brazilian restaurant.

Somewhere on I-64 between I-270 and The Galleria we took an exit and drove South a couple of miles to a small brazilian restaurant.
It was so good, that it's been a year and it still makes me hungry when I think about it.
