By Southern California standards, a St. Louis commute should be a breeze for you. Also, as other's have pointed out above, you should be very happy with the cost of real estate and living in general here compared to San Diego.

If you care to, post back what sort of living arrangements you're looking for and I would be happy to see what I could find out for you.

As a side note, when I was in the navy as a seabee, we built a boyscout camp outside of San Diego. I think that it was called "Camp Madadrey" (probably screwing up the name) is it still there or did it end up burning?

Regarding the comments about St. Louis vs. San Diego......that's how come God created Southwest Airlines! ;-) One of the biggest advantage that St. Louis has is it's central location.....With three weeks notice and about 4 hours you can fly to just about any part of the country from St. Louis....like beaches? St. Louis to Tampa or Fort Lauderdale....$99.00 each way. St. Louis to LA...$99.00 each way...

I lived in San Diego my whole life until 3 years ago and moved to Springfield, MO. Now we are moving to STL. We love STL and cannot wait. Coming from San Diego, you will miss the beach but not the housing prices and cost of living. Overall, we are much happier here.

You are SO RIGHT, Bobster! St. Louis is a very convenient location. We love being in the middle of the U.S., and it is quite easy to get to just about anywhere in the U.S. Great point! Oh, and if Southwest can't take you there, try Frontier Airlines - they have great prices, too!

It's shame we're not a TWA hub anymore though- those were the days. I feel it's a lot harder to get non-stops to places anymore. They always seem to make you fly to DFW or some crap.
