Y! SPORTS

...sorry Dinsdale, I know you were pinning your hopes on this.

Of course, it doesn't mean the Rams won't leave STL, but it doesn't look like anything is imminent to LA.

Agreed. There has been a brief discussion on this in the pro football subforum and a lot of comments on this regarding other NFL club chat sites (I'm on a few.)

Phil Anschutz is the guy behind all this (AEG- Anschutz Entertainment Group) and there is a number of things at issue with Farmers Field and the L.A. area in general.

And there is this plan with better parking and access to Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino County Fans.

AEGs proposal is unstable since the Anshutz Corporation is trying to sell off AEG.

There is even some chat being generated about a stadium at the former El Toro Marine Corp Air Station (now called the great park).

NFL will play group against group, and city against city to get the best deal(s). We'll probably get a team, But in reality, LA doesn't really need a pro football team and has done pretty well without one since the mid 1990's.

Actually, after I posted this I heard the author on the radio in St. Louis and he still said he thinks the Rams will ultimately move to LA and the Jaquars will move to STL. I suppose there are too many people and too much money to keep the NFL out of LA.

I will get out of the NFL team relocation prediction game.

Likewise the NFL does not need LA, TV revenue is powering the league right now, and the LA market has decent TV numbers with no team. Framers was just going to be too expensive, they will come up with something cheaper, but its most likely going to be an expansion team or the Raiders when it makes sense to return with a team

Stadium issues are popping up in Oakland/Bay area. It may very well be the Raiders (but most Angelenos don't want that clown show to return)

It's not over yet. The league isn't dumb enough to stick a fork in a proposal when we don't even know who the new owners will be and how flexible they are willing to be. For all we know, the next owner could be extremely flexible. If the next ownership group is indeed Guggenheim, we have seen how deep their pockets are with what they have done with the Dodgers. Don't count Farmers Field out just yet.

as much as I want the NFL to return to L.A., i would rather have no NFL team in L.A. than have the Raiders return
