Hello all. I put on a rock show recently and enjoyed good success. That said, I want to do something more interesting than just getting a few bands to play the same night at some bar. Since we specialize in psychedelic rock, the proper aesthetic is important. Do any of you have ideas for locations? I know about an hour south is Crystal City Underground--playing in caves would be amazing. Perhaps a big warehouse. An art gallery? Some "haunted"/creepy building?

And do you have any ideas on ways to reach out to the people that own/operate such locations? I imagine most warehouse owners wouldn't want the hassle/stress for a small amount of money. Any ideas on if the city/police would hassle such an event if it didn't go through some cumbersome permit process? I would bill it more as a private party. The type of crowd we draw isn't the rowdy, just turned 21 bunch. It's typically a responsible late-20's, early 30's crowd that enjoys several drinks but isn't going to tear anything up. Your thoughts are welcomed...

Third degree glass factory is a cool space, but they do a lot of corporate events/weddings/etc. Not sure if its totally what you're looking for.

The Koken Art Factory is a cool, edgy space and I think they do events.

You would have the check out these event spaces, as I am not that familiar with them, but in planning other events, these names came up:

The Old Rock House on 7th Street just south of downtown
The Gramaphone on Manchester in the Grove
Mad Art Gallery in Soulard

When I think of Haunted, I think of the Lemp Mansion - though I don't suppose there is anything there for concert type events. Wonder if there is any part of the Lemp brewery? The Stables?

Hope it helps

Thanks everyone. The more ideas the better, even if they seem impossible. It's better to scratch things off a list than to never have it on there. I'll check into the places you named.
