I'll be going to a concert at the Fox Theater in October. Is this a safe part of the city for two women to be walking around in? Will I have to worry about my car being broken into if I park in a lot?

The area to the north of the Fox is not the greatest, but plenty of people head to the Fox and nearby restaurants without worrying too much. There are lots of surface lots in the area, but if you're particularly concerned, you can park in a garage owned by SLU that's walking distance to the Fox.

If there is a show at the Fox there will be plenty of folks around. Even if there isn't a show, you should be fine. The area is getting better all the time with more dining, residential, and street life. It's well patrolled and St. Louis Univ. is nearby and has a good security presence. Enjoy, the Fox is terrific. Let us know if you need dining or hotel recs-there's a terrific newer hotel walking distance from the Fox called Hotel Ignacio, and a number of dining choices.

Events at the Fox draw a couple of thousand people. To assist with traffic and pedestrians crossing the street, there are usually police officers outside. I have never felt unsafe there.

There are a few restaurants in the area as well. Do you have dinner plans before the show?

HEY! Is it Paramore by chance?? lol. I saw them in Chicago in May but promptly bought tickets for Paramore on October 30th when I saw they were coming. Very excited.

Yes, you will be fine parking there. Most of the lots there have attendants, or at least they do during shows at the Fox. Also, police, lots of other people, etc.

While I agree with others that the area will be busy and you will be perfectly safe, I will mention the obvious that you should not leave any valuables in your car.

Yes, it is! Paramore & Metric, 2 of my favorite bands, it's worth the 3 hour drive from central IL! I haven't seen either before. How did you buy tickets already? The website keeps telling me the presale starts the 25th.

You are going to be as safe there as you are anywhere else, anything can happen anytime, anywhere even in "safe" neighborhoods.

Thanks for the replies everyone. My friend has to eat gluten-free, are there any gluten-free-friendly restaurants nearby?
