I'm a young professional currently considering relocating from the Detroit area to the St Louis area. The job would be located in what Google Maps refers to the Sunset Hills area.

I'm considering living downtown or the CWE. Seems to be a fairly short drive even in traffic, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Are either of these two areas lively enough for a young, single, male in his late 20s?

I would have no hesitation. Commuting from the city to the burbs on 44 is a breeze. The two areas you mentioned are both hotspots for young people.

Downtown and CWE are great places for 20-somethings. I'm 24 and I've lived in both and recommend either one highly. CWE would be about 20 minutes to Sunset Hills and Downtown probably about 25. The other usual suspects for hot neighborhoods are the Loop, Soulard, and Tower Grove if you want to expand your search.

Traffic should be non existent if you are living in the city and commuting to the Sunset Hills area. You'll be taking 44 there and back and going the opposite way as everybody else both morning and evening.

You can't go wrong with either neighborhoods. Both are great to live in and very active. I have lived in the CWE and currently live downtown. Let us know if you have further questions.
