I'd definitely look in Maryland Heights; I'm not as familiar as the people above with the options north of there. You might also try looking in St Charles County (to the west of the MO river). Lots of younger families out that direction, probably because it's one of the cheaper areas in the St Louis metro with good schools.

The biggest con about looking into St. Charles, would be the husband's commute in the morning. Although it wouldn't be long, I-70 is often a nightmare headed eastbound in rush hour, especially across the Blanchard Bridge if he were to take that route. I'm not sure about the Page Ave Extension?

Page Ave makes for a fairly easy commute, especially since he'd be able to exit immediately after crossing the river on MO-141/Maryland Heights Expressway/Earth City Expressway (whichever you choose to call it). There's also a very nice set of townhome/apartments directly across the river into St. Charles on the Page extension just off Upper Bottom Road.

To the OP - Page Extension = MO-364 (pretty certain it's just a state highway and not interstate)

My brother has a really nice 2 Bedroom / 2 Bath apartment in Maryland Heights off of Mckelvey Road. He's paying $900 I believe. It's a nice area, super safe, tons and tons of 20-30 somethings, lots of young couples with kids, and even some pretty good night life options mostly in the form of bars. Also, like others said it's real close to 270, 70, and the Page extension so you can be anywhere in St. Louis or St. Charles real quick

I was 21 when I moved to Maryland Heights, and there were lots of people in their 20s and early 30s, including a mix of singles and young families. If DH & I could have afforded to pay cash for a house there (we are anti-debt and anti-mortgage, for us personally anyhow), we probably would have bought there. It still may happen one day, even though we're happy where we've ended up
