Agreed, almost all of IKEA merchandise is pure junk. Buying something from IKEA seems to be one of the requirements to be able to call yourself an urban hipster. Now the wannabe urbanites on this forum can really pretend that St. Louis is NYC because there is going to be an IKEA there!

Laughing at urban hipsters being IKEA lovers. IKEA love knows no boundaries. My 50something mom LOVES IKEA and is about as far from urban, hip or cool as it gets.

Never heard of anyone wanting St. Louis to be anything like NYC. Quite the opposite in fact.

This board seems pretty hostile.

Pretty sure no one wants St. Louis to be like NYC. We're all rational enough to know that we could never be like NYC. If anyone, we've always historically been aiming to be more like Chicago. Honestly though, that's if a comparison has to be made; really, we've always been trying to be St. Louis.

Haha, likewise. My Mum has been a huge IKEA fan for years. She has modern tastes, but she's definitely no Urban Hipster
