Thank you, those are the things I am looking to find out. I appreciate all the help. The crime rate in St. Louis seems to be NUTS but I'm hoping that as you get out of St. Louis, the crime rates decline rapidly.

"St. Louis crime rate" statistics are only looking at the city of St. Louis which is very small compared to the metro area. The St. Louis metro has a population over 2 million, only 300,000 of those residents reside in St. Louis City. St. Louis County (The areas North, West, and South) holds nearly a million residents. The county however is broken up into ~91 small municipalities, most with their own police force, court system, mayors, etc...each operate as independent small towns that are incorporated into St. Louis County. So crime will not be a factor in ANY of the locations you're interested in, and really only becomes a factor in the urban core of St. Louis City...and even then, it's mostly concentrated and contained in individual neighborhoods.

-Be not concerned-

BTW - most of the "country" living St. Louis has to offer is a bit further out, and not in St. Louis County. St. Charles County is across the Missouri River from St. Louis County. Some areas mentioned are within Jefferson County and Franklin County. If memory serves me right, there are about 8 counties that make up the St. Louis metro...but I'm not 100% sure on that one.
