L.A. land sale raises stakes in Rams stadium talks : Sports

...no plans for what to do with it yet.

Now, I'm not a billionaire developer, but I have a hard time believing one would buy 60 acres in LA without some idea of what he was going to do with it.

Yeah I get what you're saying, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rams leave St. Louis (especially since we already lost one team), but the man does buy a lot of land so its probably a bit early to speculate. We shall see though.

Right now it is a bargaining chip.

He'll pull the plug on his team here in STL when it makes financial sense for him to do so. He could have purchased the land just because it was a good deal for any future development or renovation in the area, and not necessarily for a football stadium...personally I'm still of the opinion that the St. Louis area should NOT be on the hook for any new stadiums, refurbishment of the existing stadium, or anything else...when and if the team leaves, so be it...and we bulldoze the stadium and work on a northside re-gentrification project. If you have enough $$ to own a sports team, you should have enough $$ to build a stadium, and if it makes financial sense to do it, you'll find a way to come up with the capital, investors, etc on his own to make more money...or, you sell to someone who has that in place already.

leverage move. Hope the St. Louis taxpayers like funding a new stadium.

After AEG pulled the plug on Farmers Field, I don't think we will see an NFL team in LA for quite a while. Not that we really need one, and especially since there is little support from the public to fund a new stadium.

Kroenke also just bought 60 acres in Overland Park, KS. I'm not convinced he's moving the Rams to the site he purchased in LA.

I'm convinced there is no Rams move to L.A., because the NFL calls the shots as to who "plays in L.A." (and Commissioner Roger Goodell has went on record to say the league wants the Rams to remain in STL).

You have to remember, Kroenke buys land as part of his business holdings -- he builds shopping centers for Walmart, and a whole bunch of other "big" retailers...
