Thanks, glamatomic!! I'm excited, too! And I agree with you that it's a bad idea to move to a new town without a job lined up. I'm adventurous, but that kind of risk is for kids -- hence my attempt to do the leg-work now, get in front of some warm bodies in June, and hopefully have somewhere to go and make a buck on day one. I'm lucky in that I have a lot of experience in a wide range of fields (law, ed, research) as well as my social work training. I certainly intend to make an appearance at a temp agency in June, just to get the preliminaries out of the way ("she types 40wpm and didn't show up in lederhosen") and have a connection. I'm greasing the wheels wherever I can here in NYC as well - former bosses, professors and the like. I'll hit on something.

Thanks so much for the encouragement. I really appreciate it!

I am in Smithtown. Love the area but cost of living is unreal.

I guess you'll prolly be working more on the Western or Southern side of STL since that's where almost every household has a dog member.
Yep, all the best in your move to STL. I hope it works out for you.

Check out downtown around the Old Post Office plaza. Within walking distance to a grocery store and plenty of entertainment options.

Which grocery store is that? I was unaware that downtown had any grocers outside of Whole Foods (unless that's the one youre talking about).

Smithtown is a nice spot.

Would you believe I only walk dogs for the richies on the Upper West Side of Manhattan? I have a Siamese cat! Thanks so much for the well-wishes.

And thanks, Brickmama for the beat on Old Post Office Plaza. I'll have a look!

Well, not downtown, but just south of it by the City Hospital.

There isn't a Whole Foods in the city yet. There is one planned for the Central West End on Euclid Ave. I think you're writing about Field Foods near the old city hospital.
