I'll be in St. Louis for a couple of days in downtown (2211 Market Street) by the arch next weekend. Need 3-5 must eat places to check out! I will have a 6 year old with me btw. It doesn't have to be exactly in downtown but relatively close i guess. If you can please give me some names of the best eats!

Thank you

If you're with a 6 year old and have the time, the City Museum (about an $8 admission) is a must. It's an incredible playground for both kids and adults. Of course of you have more time the Zoo and Science Center (both free) are worth a trip as well, but they are a little further out from Downtown.

Have fun and I hope you enjoy your stay!

i was going to say bailey's range - my kids love it. my favorite place in downtown is copia, but it might not be very kid friendly. maybe for lunch? but i'm not sure how many downtown restaurants are open on the weekends. sometimes it's like a ghost town on saturdays and sundays.

More suggestions...

1. Bogart's (Soulard) or Pappy's (Midtown) -- BBQ (will require car or short cab ride)
2. Anthony's (Downtown) -- stop in for a burger or a more involved meal, from the same kitchen as Tony's which is one of the most esteemed restaurants in town
3. Crown Candy (North Side) (will require car or short cab ride) Go for lunch, huge BLT, malts and shakes, the 6 year old should like it

Charlie Gitto's has an old school atmosphere that is kind of cool but the food is strictly mediocre. Just across the street from there is Kemoll's on the 40th-something floor of the Met Square Building. It's Italian. Good food. Great view of the Arch. Pricey though. There are better Italian options but not downtown.
