Although I found Lake Saint Louis to be the saving grace of living in the St. Louis Area, it isn't for everyone.
If you enjoy boating, water sports and equestrian activities, LSL can't be beat.

What LSL doesn't offer is a decent nightlife and good dining (unless you consider franchise beaneries fine dining). It does not have a central Downtown area.
It makes up for that with a very creative community, with impromptu creative, music and dining happenings. People do tend to know each in LSL. The Community Center offers very good weekend entertainment, good dining and family oriented events.

Many of the homes in LSL are older construction and good quality. The downside is there is the "handyman" mentality that is endemic to most rural areas of Missouri. You will find a lot of rigged add-ons and repairs that will have wondering "WTF?"

I never saw the commute into St. Louis as being that difficult, but I am used to a 15 mile commute that can take up to an hour on a bad day.

The Avalon Hills neighborhood is very nice. The schools there are Rockwood Summit and Rockwood Middle and both are considered excellent. The commute into the city from there is about 25-30 mins via I-44. I have no idea how far to Lake St. Louis. But no reason not to consider Fenton.

It's Dinsdale... he always says stuff like this. It shouldn't come as that much of a surprise. He's not our fair St. Louis's biggest fan. That's okay though, he moved back to California I believe
