Ironically, on a recent trip to Manhattan, me (caucasian) and my g/f (darker skinned Dominican), received more stares and puzzled glances then we ever have in the Norfolk, Va metro area. It got to the point where my g/f actually asked me flat out why I thought that so many people kept staring at us.

Given, Manhattan, unlike the other burroughs, is covered with more tourists and out of towners then locals, but I certainly felt less comfortable there, as a biracial couple, then in the southern metro area I call home.
