I am currently looking at a duplex in the Tower Grove area that is 2300 square feet. The previous renters said that the electric bill is around $300 a month. They also said that gas usually runs $100 a month, but this is for only the downstairs heat and water. Is this high for the square footage and the area of town?

Sounds real high - I owned a 2 family in south city winter electric was 28, summer up to 110 in hot weather - summer gas was about 30 - winter was about 100 - I did put down new insulation shortly after I bought it - un-insulated would be more.

Also units over each other are "flats" duplexs are usually side by side
