Give me a f'n break. God doesn't solve social issues. God doesn't fix the exportation of our jobs for cheap labor in neighboring countries. God doesn't build levees to prevent floods. God doesn't influence gas prices. God doesn't stop our representatives in Washington from making choices that screw over the majority of our country to line their own pockets.

You sound like that ridiculous couple in Oregon that just let their *2nd* kid die because they refused simple medical treatment for their belief that God will heal them. Churches can do a lot of good in a community, but it's not the 'one' answer. You can keep your holier than thou attitude.. it's not going to fix the problem.

Have you noticed the exodus of people back and forth from their native homestate
looking for a better place? Crime free; it's not happening right now America is on the tightrope; since we (USA) having taking God out of the equation

Hmmm...IMHO people generally migrate for better opportunities (away from high cost of living....gas, rent, housing prices etc. etc.). Moving back to their home state....they move back because it is "Home" to them.

Was God ever really in the equation? Repent? Hope? .....reminds me of the joke about the man sitting on the roof waiting for "God" to save "Him"... a boat came, a helicopter and the man stayed waiting on "God to Save Him".......IMHO God doesn't need to wave a magical wand to "Save Us".....we need to be part of the solution.....Hope? Hope, that mankind will help itself.

I think he means if everyone had God maybe they would have more respect for others, which leads to less crime, and a better world overall.

But that will never happen.

Angry Homicides

I'm not originally from here and this is making me want to leave! What is wrong with people? Or is 101 people not a lot around here? And people where complaining last year, saying St. Louis isn't a bad place! Maybe, its just me cuz I'm from a small town? But its ridiculous!

St. Louis hits 101st murder of 2008

(KMOV) -- A man was shot to death Tuesday night in north St. Louis, marking St. Louis' 101st murder victim this year.

It happened just after 10:00 p.m. in the 8200 block of Church Road.

What exactly do you want us to say?

If you don't like it then do something about it or leave. It is what it is. Crime in St. Louis, like all cities, is localized.

Sounds like you probably are better off in a small town if you have a low tolerance for crime.

The economy is shaky now and that always sends crime #s up; it's happening all across the country this year and it sucks.

North St Louis is a high crime area. There are many relatively safe communities in the St. Louis area. What city doesn't have these problems?

Every city has crime issues. You just have to know where you're going and stay where it's safe. If you can't handle crime you'd better not live in any city of more than 1,000, though even they have some crime.

And it's not like you'll just randomly get shot. Most murders are related to drugs or domestic disputes.

grmngrl8203 - yes, it is terrible. IMHO, one homicide is too many. I would wager that not too many people are happy about these murders [except the argument that many of these removes druggers and the such from the streets], yet its difficult to have a quick fix, as there is no simple remedy. Culture, drugs, etc. all need to change, and that is a quite difficult long-term endeavor. Its definitely worth pursuing, but takes much effort, time, and resources, along with dedication and desire - by all parties involved, including the local, regional, and state gov'ts. Too often such authorities turn a blind eye, "letting" the various druggers kill each other, etc. Yes, it could be better... maybe if enough people raised their voices, collectively or even solo, small changes can be made to improve the life bit by bit of all. Yea, ok, I'm dreaming...
