Personally I am against it. I do not agree with building a new stadium on the backs of taxpayers for an owner that nobody from STL likes. Let him move the team to LA, and lets focus on building a smaller, soccer specific stadium somewhere in central corridor or downtown for St. Louis FC. Build up a strong grassroots fanbase over time, and get awarded an expansion team in MLS, and promote St. Louis FC from USL to MLS. The stadium of course could be used for a wide variety of activities when soccer related events are not happening, and would be small enough to where it would be an attractive price to build.

What happens if in five years the owner of the Rams decides the stadium should be in west county or he will move, does St Louis then build a third stadium to keep the Rams? When and where does it end?
One would hope the lease on the new stadium is better than the EJD. If you care about taxpayer money, keeping the Rams is probably the cheapest way to have an NFL team here. No way we lure a new team in a few years with a twenty-five year old stadium.

Anyway, it seems like building a new stadium for the Rams is approximately a break-even deal financially for taxpayers.

I do agree that the stadium demands placed upon cities are getting old, but that's what lease agreements are for. Write a good one and you don't need to worry about bad opt out clauses or threats to move.
Yes, our civic leaders, including the late Tom Eagleton, really screwed the pooch on the lease deal.
