Hey all!
I have a 6 year old daughter and am interested in enrolling her in a private school for the upcoming year. She is doing great at her current school, but she is in the gifted program and is bored in her regular classroom. I'd really like her to go somewhere that will challenge her more and that she would enjoy.

The three schools I am looking at are:
-Visitation
-Academy of the Sacred Heart (Saint Charles)
-New City

New City is my favorite out of the three, hands down, but it is also the most inconvenient location-wise.
I live in Saint Charles and work in Chesterfield.

I'd love to hear some pros and cons on the three, as well as what everyone thinks are the big differences between Visitation and Sacred Heart. From what I've seen it looks as though Visitation may have stronger academics, but that could just be because Visitation also has a high school?

All help and thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Lauren - Given that you live in St Charles, I would be I would be interested to hear your perception of ASH. Also, if you are looking at Visitation, why not also Oak Hill School, given that they are almost right next to each other, both Catholic, and similar price point?

I am actually not very familiar with private schools in general as most of my friends and I went to public school.

I do know that many of the girls I grew up with in church (not catholic) went to ASH and seemed to get a very good education, but they all also went on to Visitation for high school. The ASH campus is beautiful, but that doesn't say anything about the academics I am going on a tour tomorrow morning so hopefully that will give me more insight as well.

I like that both ASH and Visitation start teaching foreign languages early on, as that is not something our public school offers.
I'll have to look at Oak Hill, I hadn't heard of it.

Lauren - I would be interested in hearing what you found out, and what you decided on.

Not to disparage Viz or Sacred Heart, but if you're going to shell out some bucks, personally I'd rather go with New City, Wilson School, Forsyth, Community, Rohan Woods, etc. instead.

I would be interested in a school with a catholic or protestant affiliation. Also, would need to be in western suburbs. Another one I saw was Oak Hill School / Villa Duchesne. Anyone have any experience/insight with them?
