I'd like to clarify an earlier statement-city schools are provisionally accredited and are on the upswing. After a revolving door they have had the same superintendent for at least 5-6 years, and he is doing what needs to be done. There are some excellent individual schools in the SLPS system (several among the best in the state), as well as troubled ones-mostly a function of the neighborhoods they service. Lots of charter and private schools in the city-some are quite fine.

Sorry for the misunderstanding of all my post..but Yes we were looking at places that we know some of our family lives in. I was not trying to be phoney. We have decided to move to St.Louis though. So thank all of you for all the advice and knowledge. Our biggest concern is a good area for our children to grow up in and to go to school in

As someone who had a child in the St. Louis public school district, I would highly recommend the magnet school option. The school she attended was called Wilkinson and she loved it! The city of St. Louis is great, and if it weren't for the crime increasing and me accepting a job offer in KC, I'm sure we would still be there. Good luck in STL!
