Is there a reason you prefer to live in St. Charles? There are other 'suburban' communities that are closer to downtown St. Louis. I work downtown, and my commute from within the city is 10 minutes or so each way. Personally, I would not want to spend any more time that that on the road each work day (a 40 minute commute each way is nearly an hour and a half out of each day!

I hate my 15 minute commute but for a good portion of the population a 40-60 min commute is doable.
