Hi everyone! I currently live in St. Louis City (Forest Park Southeast) and love it! I've worked downtown for the past 4 years, so the 7-8 minute commute to work each day has been wonderful. However, I recently accepted a job out in the County (near I-270 & Olive) and am concerned about the rush hour commute each day, so I am considering moving out closer to that area. I'm 31 and single, so I hate to give up being close to everything that the city has to offer. So my question is: are there any fun, young professional-oriented neighborhoods slightly west of the city that are decently affordable (i.e., a $300K - $325K budget)? I'd love to live in Clayton, Brentwood, Kirkwood, etc., but am not sure that's in my budget (at least for a house with a backyard for my pooch)...thoughts? Thanks in advance!

$325K can get you in Kirkwood/Webster/ Brentwood...not sure about Clayton though. Creve Coeur can easily find a place within your budget. You'll probably get a little more for your money in Creve Coeur but will lack the historic charm of Webster/ Kirkwood area and I'm a little bias but feel it is a much more inclusive area.

I currently make a similar drive. Shaw to Olive/270. The evening commute can be rough.
-Leaving home at 7:40am I take Forest Park Pkwy>170>Olive>270. This generally takes me on average 25 minutes with little to no major traffic. If I'm unlucky and stoplights slow me down, maybe 35.
-Leaving work at 5 I take the general 270>64, about 30 to bad days 45 minutes.

If you enjoyed living in the city I might also recommend Skinker-DeBaliviere, Franz Park, Hi-Pointe, Dogtown.
University City can give you similar housing options to Clayton, with St. Louis density/amenities.

I'd recommend University City. At your price point, you can afford a very nice home and be close to loop and Clayton attractions.
