Hi Everyone!

I'm a 25 yr old male moving from the east coast to St. Louis for a job opportunity. I've been looking in the CWE area for apartments and I came across The Fairmont Apartments at 7 Maryland Plaza (on the corner of Maryland and Euclid).

I've heard good things about The Monticello (Fairmont and Monticello are both owned by same management property) but can't seem to find much on The Fairmont, and I was wondering if anyone has had any positive or negative experiences living there or around the area.

Thanks!

I don't know about that place, but might you be interested in sharing a place with someone? My 22 year old son is also moving from the east coast for a new job. He can afford his own place, but would prefer a roommate to split an even nicer place, save some money, and have a friend among the strangers. Message me if you might be interested or have questions.

I toured the Fairmont when I was apartment hunting in the CWE several years ago (2011, to be exact). From what I remember, it's a fairly basic, but nice building. They were renovating the units back then, and I'm sure they're finished with that by now, so they're probably a bit nicer now. The best part is its location smack dab in the heart of Maryland Plaza. That could either be a blessing or a curse, what with noise and traffic and all that.

Great location, tiny apartments, no central A/C. What is your budget?

Also wanted to mention - window A/C might seem fine coming from the Northeast. It's not. You really need central air conditioning here, as 80 degrees will feel like 95 degrees with the humidity.

I think window AC units are fine if they're in good (new-ish) condition and there is one both the living room and each bedroom.

I'm not familiar with that particular building, but it's a great neighborhood. Would highly recommend it for a transplant.

My budget is <$1100. However, I am now scheduled to move into the complex this upcoming Saturday. Due to distance, I'm doing a sight unseen move in so I haven't been able to view the complex, but have received pictures. Couldn't find any reviews on it online but the location looks awesome with the bars and restaurants in the area.

Also, talk about tiny....336 sq ft studio!

Hmm .. I have a rather large 2 bedroom and I pay 675.00. I am not in the west end, but still in the central corridor. With that budget I would suspect you would have a lot of options.

Hi 43evr!

Before you consider the CWE, consider this:

You will be paying a lot of money (by St. Louis standards, amyway) to live in a very liberal amd progressive area - and therefore a palpable criminal element is nearby, mainly north of Delmar.
I'd look out in West County for Safety sake.
