You're not worthless, you just have crappy taste in neighborhood design. I wear brown shirts with khaki pants, we all have our flaws.

Try going down 44 to 109. Go north until you pass the high school and take the next left. Interesting neighborhood.

Not me, I live in STL County...in a 1990s built subdivision in a cul de sac. I love my neighborhood. Lots of events, gatherings...great sense of community.

This has been a false stereotype on this forum for years. The idea that people in subdivisions hide in their homes and have no sense of community is ridiculous.

It's more that they have a very specific idea of the community they're willing to tolerate, i.e. people who can afford homes like theirs. That's why so many of these subdivisions form HOAs with anti-rental covenants, fight tooth and nail against nearby rental properties, etc. They want to maintain isolation from anyone who isn't the Right Kind of People.

That certainly would be one motivation, but is it a good characterization? If so is that the primary motivation for buying a nice home in a quiet area? Could there be other reasons, or will we be forced to ride a hyper-focused idea down the tracks?

You're conflating "nice home in quiet area" with "cul de sac subdivision", which is not correct. It is true that many people have to buy homes in badly-designed areas because that's what's available. But, bad design wouldn't be so prevalent if it weren't in high demand.

And "bad design" means you don't like the style.

For me, the most annoying thing about St. Louis is definitely the sweltering summers. Yesterday was unbearably hot and it's supposed to be like that all week. The summers here I definitely can do without. Winters can also be unbearably cold, though they aren't nearly as bad as the summer.

We haven't been over a 100 for weeks. Just sayin'.
