The second phase of Ballpark Village will include:

• The aforementioned 29-story tower at Clark and Broadway that will allow a Cardinals fan to call the ballpark home. It will have an unobstructed view of the Busch Stadium field. The design of the building includes floor-to-ceiling windows and at least 300 residential units.

• A pool and street-level retail for the high rise.

• At least 400 parking spaces.

• An office building at the corner of Clark and Eighth streets that won’t be too far from the entry to the Cardinals’ front offices. The building will feature street-level retail, a modern office, and another 500 parking spots. The office building, along with another planned by others west of the stadium, would be the first for the downtown area since 1989.

• A two-story retail market and entertainment building that will also have a view of the Busch Stadium playing field.
It's a $220 million project, with construction set to begin in late 2017 and end in 2019.

Don't mean to sound negative but it's about time.

That new tower is going to obstruct my view of the stadium.

But hey, it's good for the city and the area.

I wonder how it will impact downtown traffic?

We need traffic downtown. That is what creates energy and vibe in the neighborhood.

Also BPV is on Metrolink plus within 1 mile of 4 interstate highways.

The same setup will also be helping Cupples X. It'll be the first new office building built in downtown since 1989, and the 10 story building going up in Phase II will be the second.

I expect Phase 2 to be a huge success. I also expect Phase 3 to come much sooner, maybe before Phase 2 is complete. The high-rise hotel should be in Phase 3. The entire backside of the property will be ripe for development. Very excited about this project! Great for Downtown STL!

I have high hopes for an expedited Phase III as well. This might finally be the push that downtown needs if the apartments and the office building both do well. The same goes for the Cupples X building.

Clayton, the CWE, and Midtown have all been abuzz with construction, and it's about time downtown got a piece of the pie.

^ I agree, from BPV, really all the way to Clayton, we are seeing a building boom of epic proportions! We are talking about a 29 story tower & several mid-rise buildings Downtown, a 25-story tower near the Foundry, along with several other buildings, the next phase in the Cortex district, an MLS stadium ( I expect an announcement in the next 6 mos. . . I hope), several new BJC/Wash U Med. towers already up and the next phase including a new Queeny tower, SSM's almost billion dollar hospital campus and on to Clayton, a 30 plus story tower and several other towers and buildings associated with Centene. I can see Koman, Montgomery and others jumping in the mix, as well as other proposals we do not yet know about. This could be the biggest construction boom in the City we've seen since the 80's and maybe in our lifetimes. It is going to be amazing seeing tower cranes from the Arch to Clayton..Exciting times!

I agree St. Louis needs new construction. Exciting if all this actually takes place.
