With permit less concealed carry in MO, you don't have to worry as much. Just carry a firearm when visiting.

It's too bad the city government is apparently not able to provide enough public security downtown.

What about the 99% of crimes where carrying a firearm doesn't do any good and may even harm you?

"She said four of the eight would be replaced by licensed security guards later this year, once Downtown STL chooses a security contractor. The security guards would not have firearms nor the authority to arrest."

Tired of these rent-a-cops that do pretty much nothing except provide the appearance of safety improvements (MetroLink, anyone?). We need more actual police with the authority to do something.

How would having a firearm harm me? I'd rather have one than not when being attacked.

A mugger could take it from you and shoot you, you could try and fail to shoot them and get shot back, you could accidentally shoot yourself. Those all seem like more likely outcomes than you 180-noscoping a mugger.

Yep. Except you do not need a permit to carry a concealed firearm any longer in Missouri! Missouri is a sane state that has common sense constitutional rights granted along with 11 other states that allow it.

A ccw permit gives you a couple advantages still in MO. In MO with a permit you can carry a firearm in the open in a city that bans open carry and carrying into a prohibited building with a permit is only a fine with a permit compared to an arrested if carrying into one without a permit. IMO unless you plan to open carry, I wouldn't waste the money on a ccw permit if you plan on not traveling out of MO much.

The federal gun free school zone has never been enforced.

"I want to carry a deadly firearm and be surrounded exclusively by crowds of strangers who are carrying deadly firearms without any oversight or training" - something only extremely sane people would say.

Yes, just become another George Zimmerman.
