I'll not bore you with the details of Google's failures. Just hoping someone here can help. I want to connect with the president or secretary or someone with information about the Welsh Society in St Louis, MO. Can anyone help? Thank you.

In the 3rd column about half way down are two listings for contacts for the St. David's Welsh Society of St. Louis:

Wales Societies

However other listings of world Welsh organizations seem to infer that the St. Louis chapter is inactive. Their website and FB page have been removed.

Inactive? That may explain why I cannot find them. Thank you. I'll check your one link, though.

Yes, another list I found listed St. Louis but then listed Inactive next to it - the links it provided were dead.

Thank you for posting this question though - it had never even occurred to me that Welsh societies existed. My maternal grandfather's family were from a long line of Welsh coalminers.

There are Welsh societies all over the country - and elsewhere in the world, too. But I imagine they are dying out with the younger generations who have become thoroughly Americanized, Britishized (?), etc. No one wants to learn the language any more. I did and it was fun. I have a friend with whom I correspond in Welsh. She got her university education over there. And, living downstairs in an apartment just below mine is a gentleman whose mother was from Wales. He is getting along in years now and none of his children are interested in things Welsh.

The coal miners were the salvation of Wales after England finally defeated Wales for good. Then, eventually, the coal mines went dead much as most of ours have. I am told there is only one coal mine in Wales now and it exists under special permission for one purpose. They are allowed to mine just enough coal to make art pieces for tourists. A friend over there sent me one of a coal miner. Beautiful work it is.

But other than that one place, there is no more coal mining in Wales.

Enough from me? Thanks a lot for the search. I did find two people I could try to contact. One I once knew. I'll see if she is still here.
