Still nothing but a tent at the site of the great bottle district (across from Dome on N Side...). Has anyone heard anymore?

I really don't think its going to come to fruition. They have not made a single move ever since the announcement, what, 3-4 years ago?

You must remember, this is St. Louis, the city where NOTHING ever gets done. Bottle District? Nope. Ballpark Village? Nope. Riverfront revitalization? Nope. Big, unsightly, muddy hole in the middle of downtown? You bet!

I wouldn't say that nothing gets done here. After all, downtown has undergone a pretty significant revitalization in recent years, numerous buildings have been renovated, smaller scale projects like the Old Post Office Plaza are being built, etc.

Ballpark Village and the Bottle District are both HUGE projects - very difficult for even experienced developers to pull off. Had Centene not backed out of Ballpark Village, we might be seeing construction underway there right now. Even without Centene, two major office tenants have committed to BPV, which will help get the project started. The Bottle District is another story altogether. I don't think the developer of that project had any clue how difficult it is to bring a project of that magnitude to fruition. I'm of the assumption that it will never get built.

This is one of the first things I noticed about St. Louis when I arrived here.

One of my biggest complaints. THERE IS NO PROACTIVITY HERE!

Complacency and mediocrity are this city's comfort zone

So I guess Citygarden, two new YMCA centers, new developments on Washington, Old Post Office plaza, new Schnucks downtown, all in the past year and all in a horrible recession count for nothing then huh? I too get frustrated by lack of progress on certain things, but I also don't resort to stereotyping an entire region and its people.
