I made several bad decisions today given the winter storms in St. Louis today that started at around noon. The first was going into work when I could have worked from home. The second was waiting till 2:30 p.m. to leave work vs. leaving earlier or maybe leaving later. The third was after being in super slow traffic on Lindberg deciding to try Warson Road instead (a bad choice with all the hills). Eventually I turned around on Warson Road, took Litszinger Road to McKnight and got home that way.

All I can say and I got stuck about three times is the most incredible helpful people jumped out and helped me, gave me advice, worked with me and so many others. Some were other stranded motorists; some were caught in traffic behind cars having issues; some were people who lived in these area who were out for hours directing people, helping stranded motorists at intersections, pushing cars, putting warnings out not to try roads that weren't passable. What wonderful good Samaritans! I am overwhelmed by the kindness and helpfulness of the St. Louis community that was so apparent today and can only hope that I will be inspired by these acts of kindness to help others in my own community.

Glad you made it. Ironically I took the same route 30 minutes earlier. It was getting treacherous then. I also bailed out on Warson at Litszinger road but I took it west to Lindbergh. Road conditions got bad fast.

That's great! I live in that general area and my husband flew in last night and made it back from the airport in 30 minutes. I was honestly impressed. My kids were out of school at lunchtime and once we got home, I stayed there I feel awful for anyone stuck in that mess on 44 though

Not going to lie, there's something a little magical about everyone helping each other and seeing nearly every person in our neighborhood outside shoveling. My husband and kids helped dig out several driveways and dad + neighbors enjoyed some post-shoveling beer. We also helped push 3 people's cars on last night's commute (which was only 2 miles...)
