How I feel exactly:

-sigh- gonna hit the Acme Oyster House down on Broadway as soon as I touch down at the airport next Thursday, and get myself a nice, cold Michelob while I can, its one of the few places that still carry it on tap. I am gonna go through the brewery for the last time while its still American owned, how bittersweet.

To update, at least via the eyes of another large StL company:

"With the InBev acquisition of Anheuser-Busch we have seen negative things happening in the St. Louis community and in regard to Emerson doing business with InBev," according to the memo. "InBev payment terms with Emerson have now been stipulated as 120 days — take it or leave it!"

As some of the comments state... if ya are gonna drink beer, buy Schlafly &/or O'Fallon - support a 'true' local StL brewer.

The wonderful folks of Inbev stated they were going to stretch things out to 120 days quite a while ago.
My dads people came to the Lou to help build the brewery, and my family has been involved ever since.
Sadly, once I read what their billing practices were going to be, I quit drinking their product. I fear the product will suffer greatly, since they are putting undo pressure on suppliers.
Once again, the "crap in, crap out" frame of mind seems to the standard operating procedure.... very sad days for a STL icon.
BTW, cant get true STL product in my neck of the woods ~sigh~

Even tho' I don't drink beer anymore, I deplore what is happening to a St.L. landmark. It's so much more than a brewery. It was a family company with a proud heritage that all St. Louisans knew about and proudly recommended visits to out of town company and newcomers.

kshe and ShadowCaver, you and others, are so right in your assessment of this situation. What's next???

Exactly, what is next? I can hear my ancestors rolling in their graves, so to speak.
Inbev does not seem to get the whole history of the product, which goes hand with the history of STL .
I fear another loss of our history, how sad, I dont even know how else to express it.

St. Louis still has:

Schalfly
Morgan Street
Buffalo Brewing
Trailhead
O'Fallon
And other developing microbreweries.

And Kansas City is home of Boulevard Brewing, purveyor of many outstanding beer products.

Why don't you step out of the box, think progressive and try a quality crafted brew or something besides mass-produced thin, pale American lager? Support these local breweries and MAKE some history.
