Greetings - from my knowledge, its a good school. Maybe the following will help some:

Congrats, and good luck.

UMSL is a great school! And tuition is very very affordable! The area surrounding it is the ghetto so live on campus or more south.

Vinita Park is a racially mixed blue collar working class, neighbor, very little crime. I live on a dead end street for the last twenty years, with the same neighbors! I can let my daughter play outside, walk the street and feel some what safe. Normandy is the school district, not the best but not the worse. St Rita catholic church is a presence to the community. The police force is decent. You can find a starter house for about 500 a month or more a month. I have not ever had any crime, even when I travelled for my job and left my house empty. I rented my house out for a while and my tenants never had any problems with crime, the neighbors or anything!!
