But a few gusts from the Windy City still could extend to St. Louis, about 300 miles southwest of Chicago.

For one thing, there is a prevailing trend for visiting nations to set up pre-Games training and camps outside the hullabaloo of the host city. Because it's in the same time zone and shares the heat and humidity extremes of Chicago, the proximity and facilities in the St. Louis area could make it a desirable base of operations for outsiders to acclimate in the weeks before the Games.

By 2016, if we host some soccer games, we may have a new Collinsville stadium by then (depending on how that goes) and we'll need to see what is done about the Edward Jones Dome (if it's replaced, updated, etc.).

Northern Illinois and Northwestern's Ryan Field are the tentative locations for the soccer prelims.

If I recall correctly, back in 96 for the Atlanta games they did American Diving Qualification at the Rec Plex in St. Peters.
