Downtown St. Louis Business: 2000 Washington For Sale

I don't know anything about the real estate agent selling it, but I hope somebody buys up and reuses this great little building. Apparently it was a firehouse.

Here's the Street View of 2000 Washington Ave.

at 2020 Washington Ave. is the Sporting News Lofts. And right across the street at the Northeast Corner of 20th street and Washington Ave is the Tudor Lofts (Apartments). They are not yet done on Google Street View, but they are done now. Tudor is a long white and yellow building there. It takes up a whole block.

it is an interesting building, though that area definitely has a long way to go.

Default 2000 washington

It would be great if whoever buys the building pulls the brick infill from the window arches and replaces them with windows.

I drove by there with my step brother a couple weeks ago and saw the building. It is very cool, would make one hell of a pub.

I wouldn't say it has a long way to go.

Sporting News Lofts - right next door
Majestic Stove lofts - directly across the street
Motor Lofts - one block west
Packard Lofts - one block west, one block south
Tudor lofts - caddy corner
Westgate Lofts - a few blocks west

The building across the street from the Tudor Lofts is being renovated. You also have the Tin Can, Tap Room, Jim Edmonds' restaurant, and a few other eating and drinking establishments. It's still a work in progress, but it's already a pretty good place to be.

I agree about the restaurants/bars being a good sign, but I don't buy that lofts mean much of anything. That area is pretty overbuilt, and a lot of times the commercial stuff is much slower to come about.

If we were still in a bull market I'd feel better that the area will continue to improve; I'm just saying that I think it'd be a risk -- as such it might well pay off, or it might not.
