I'm a 23/male moving to St. Louis in three weeks. I will be working downtown, Pine and N. Broadway, and was looking for a good place to live. Things I'm interested in; location to work, bars, restaurants, shopping and a younger crowd. Should I commute from CWE/Univ. City area or try living downtown? I've heard bad things about crime in St. Louis, but understand the bad parts/good parts thing. I'm very familiar with Detroit so I may be desensitized to bad areas.

I'm looking for something under $650/month w/o utilities that's safe and near some fun places. Any information would be extremely helpful! Thanks!

As a quick suggestion, would say the CWE/UCity area would be quite attractive to be within. Has much to offer in those items you mentioned that interest you... and still being close to the downtown area. Unless you'd rather not commute that distance, then downtown would be it. Have you had chance to spend any time at all in either areas, to get a good feel for each yourself? Good luck.

Welcome marinale!!! Many loft style rentals in downtown area. Check out some of these links. May find what you're looking for:

Good Luck to you and Happy Hunting. Would also suggest that you 'google' what you are looking ofr and you just might have some fun finding what is our there. St. Louis is a great city (my home town) and there is so much to do for a person your age that is safe and sane.
