Just really wanting to get the best St. Louis has to offer while we're there.

Would sure appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
60'sGal, my wife and I were in K.C. in December and I made it pretty much a Triple D vacation for me. You know what I mean. Anyway, as much as I love Goody Goody (just ate breakfast there last week), and want to go to Sweetie Pies, I don't know that you want to take a friend in those neighborhoods to give a real good example of where you grew up. Go to Uncle Bills on Kingshighway as a trade for Goody Goody. Take her to Blueberry Hill Restaurant (Diner) in the loop for a great meal & experience. For Italian, the hill is a great choice for the ambiance, be sure to drive around the area, but we have fantastic Italian places all over the metro area. My favorite reasonably priced place on the hill is Zia's on Wilson Avenue. If you go for lunch the prices are even better and then you can cross the street to Missouri Bakery afterwords for some great bakery products. But don't forget to take her to the most over rated place in town, but I still love it, Ted Drewes on Watson.

If I had someone in town for only two days these are the things I would do (or actually do). I would for sure eat somewhere on Euclid in the CWE, most likely Dressel's Pub on the North End for the fresh potato chips and atmosphere. From there I would drive them through Lacledes Landing by just driving up Lindell, it changes names to Olive once you're past Grand. You'll see some nice sites on Lindell including the New Cathedral and get a good look at downtown. For entertainment at night, The Big Bang is the best dueling piano bar in town (at Lacledes Landing). I would take them to Main Street St. Charles just North of Hwy. 70, and walk up and down the street and then I would surely take them into Ameristar for a little while. Then the other place I'd make sure they saw was the Loop as I mentioned earlier. If you should want to go to a mall for shopping, the best mall in St. Louis is West County Center at Manchester & I-270.

I would surely drive them through Forest Park and maybe stop at the Art Museum or the History Museum. I don't think you'd have time for the zoo, but it is one of the best in the world.

Sweetie Pies is one of my personal favs. The people are friendy and the food is great. Plus its in the up and coming Grove neighborhood which has made great strides in the past few years and has plenty to offer.

If you opt for the Landing then you might as well try the casino Lumiere right next to the big bang instead of driving all the way out to St Chuck.

I was thinking about the Sweetie Pies on Florissant, after looking it up to see I'm not nuts, I see there is one at 4266 Manchester near Kingshighway, so if that one is one of your favorites, I get that way all the time and will have to try it out.

I told her to go to Ameristar because Main Street in St. Charles is one of the recomendation I thought she should go. I only mentioned The Big Bang if they were looking for entertainment in the evening. I like Ameristar much better than Lumiere because it has a much more Vegas feel about it.

Thank you for all the great suggestions! I really appreciate that. I grew up in Tower Grove Heights and was recently told we might want to avoid Goody Goody Diner due to the condition of the neighborhood. I have no memory of the place from my growing up years.

I plan to show my friend Tower Grove Heights neghborhood, Roosevelt and Mann where I went to school, Union Station, The Arch, Forest Park, Soulard Market and The Landing area....Not sure about Delmar. Was there a year ago and ate at Blueberry Hill. Was OK. Certainly a great place to people watch though.

Thanks again for the ideas, especially the reminder of the Euclid area. Spent lots of time there back in the late 60's. It was a swinging place back then.
