I am a freshman in hs on the Illinois side, and my school does not have a lacrosse team. Are there any recreation leagues around here? I am sure I could find one in St. Louis, but would prefer not to make that trip. Any info would be appreciated, I have wanted to play lax my whole life.

Ive never seen or heard of lacrosse on the illinois side. If anywhere has lacrosse it would be edwardsville or belleville, but i doubt it.

Good luck.

Stl area high school lacrosse is currently limitied to the Stl side of the river. However that will be changing in time. Chicago has it, but not so much down state. I can put you in touch with a few people to help you out, if you want to send me a direct message.

Even in the state of MO there are currently only 28 high school teams, most of which are in the Stl area. However that number is growing annually.

Even in chicago it is pretty limited I believe. Mainly in the Northern Suburbs and a few of the South Burbs.

Lacrosse is still a niche club type sport in both Chicago and St. Louis. lacrosse schools from both areas play against one another in both geographies annually, for many years now. This is similar to soccer and hockey, where some schools come down to St. Louis and St. Louis schools go up to Chicago, and has been the case for many years.

Currently there are 28 high school lacrosse teams in Missouri.
