Good schools, quality of life, low crime...etc. I will be working on the IL side (driving around southern IL). House between $300K- $425K.

Any info is welcomed. How does O'fallon living compare to Edwardsville and Troy? Schools? Crime? Better than Chatham, IL?

Troy, Highland, Edwardsville-- these are all great towns. Edwardsville has the large university, SIU-E.

None of these have high crime rates or really any type of real crime rate to speak of.

Have you found the town you are looking for? If not, let me recommend Edwardsville/Glen Carbon, IL. I've been here for 4 years, and it is a great place. Only 25 - 30 minutes to great St. Louis Shopping and Sporting Events. Housing is abundant - new construction, resales and historical. Growing community with new stores, restaurants and schools! If you would like more info, please post and I would be happy to fill you in on more.

I live in Troy, moved from St. Louis. It is a great town with low crime. O'fallon, Troy, Edwardsville, Columbia, they all have low crime and great schools.

I hear Collinsville is ok, Edwardsville, Troy, O'Fallon are good.

Anything closer to the river is asking for trouble, since most of the river is East St Louis...

Depending upon were your work is located & how far your willing to drive, your best bet is a location away from the metro area, taxes & real estate values are way too high there, on the MO side would be a good choice or if it has to be in the metro IL area swansea is good, shiloh is good but pricey, south of columbia, east or north east of the air base, anything closer than about 20 miles to st louis don't even think about.
