As a goofball that bleeds Blue, year round, and gets peeved at the StL media's lack of attention towards the bestest sport, I can still feel the heat of the summer a'coming towards us, as Pujol's and company take to the field, and peanuts shells and crackerjack debris fill the stands. So, here is to the bestest MLB baseball franchise!

And here are what the pundits are saying about the Redbirds so far:

I'm excited. Usually this time of year I'm watching Blues games as the season winds down and we finish in 15th, but the Blues are in the playoff hunt this year, so I'm not paying as much attention to Spring Training.

The Blues made the playoffs 25 straight years before missing it the past few seasons. Your youth is showing. ...But this lack of playoffs for a few seasons has gotten old.....perhaps this will be the year to start the upward trend.

So, you are going to the zoo? Seeing red birds, and young bears? What you don't care about other animals there too? Is this something of importance? Really?

The Cardinals will need 25-30 starts or close to it from Chris Carpenter to win the division. They will also need a reliable closer or reliable committee of closing.

Last season the Cardinals led the league in blown saves, and in bullpen losses, both I believe 31 or so. Waaay too many. Starters not going deep enough, and closing games a problem. Offense was not the problem. And, offense will be better this year than last year imo, certainly healthier so far, and deeper, ...so....

Carpenter and closing games, will allow the Cardinals to compete to the end for the division. We shall see.
