Recommendations? We want to buy out in Ballwin (or just somewhere out west/southish...DH works in Arnold but I want Parkway/Rockwood/Lindbergh schools). Any firms to avoid? We're newish to the area so we don't have a local bank. TIA

Hi,
you don't have to bank at a particular place to get a mortgage through them. However, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage is the #1 mortgage originator in the US; I've heard people use Pulsaki Bank, there's Bank of America Mortgage, CitiMortgage, and of course all the online guys. You'll certainly want to shop around so you can compare costs/fees. Most of the big firms will take your application online- so that's a help.
good luck!

I've used this guy and have refinanced several times the last 5 years:

USA Mortgage - Mueller Branch : Home

I've been very pleased with his service and feel he is upfront about everything.

If you have a real estate agent you like and trust, I recommend getting their input. They know the people that can get stuff done and should be considered the experts. My biggest regret with my recent purchase is I went with a family recommendation instead of an agent recommendation.
