I have taken a job in St. Louis which requires me to live in the St. Louis city limits. My family and I live in a medium size town from Iowa and are looking for a good nieghborhood in the city limits. We have a 2 1/2 year old and one on the way so we are looking for a kid friendly location. Any advice will be helpful. Thanks

There are lots of "good" places to live in the city, but if you're looking for areas that are family-friendly (ie, lots of kids), you should look at the south/southwest area of the city. Try looking at homes in zips 63109, 63139, 63116. If you do a search of this forum you'll find several posts addressing specific neighborhoods in detail. Good luck!

http://stlouis.missouri.org/neighborhoods/neighmap.html

Those neighborhoods would be #4, #6-12, #14, #41-44. You can scroll over the numbers to see the neighborhood names.

Any recommendation you get is subjective, of course, but I live with my husband and 2 kids in #7, aka Southampton, and we've been very happy here

Knowing a bit more about your budget, interests, lifestyle, and generally what you're looking for in a community would be helpful in making some recommends. I personally think the Central West End, Tower Grove Park and various parts of South City are wonderful places for families.

our budget is 125 to 150's. We just didn't want to end up in any "bad" part of town since we have no idea about any of the areas. We have been looking at houses close to holly hills.

Dogtown and The Hill are family/kid friendly. That's the 63139 area code.

63109 or 63139 zip codes are going to be your best bets.
