I'm a local author/publisher trying to promote my book. Could someone advise me on the most effective ways to promote booksignings in St. Louis? I'd appreciate anything.

you can try contacting left bank books to see if they could accommodate you. They're a locally renown bookstore with two locations in CWE and Downtown.

For Authors | Left Bank Books | St. Louis' Full-Line Independent Bookstore Since 1969

their website doesn't mention anything about opportunities for book signings but hopefully this'll point you in the right direction. Good Luck

In addition to local bookstores, you might try contacting some of the public library systems to see how you get your foot in the door: St. Louis City, St. Louis County, Municipal Library Consortium (each branch operates independently; see U. City, Richmond Heights, Maplewood, etc.), St. Charles County, and Jefferson County. You might try offering a copy of your book to them (for free), as well!

Many colleges and universities invite authors for readings, but I don't know how you break into that either. You might try contacting some of them to find out (maybe through their English departments or community relations department). I would think the summer is not the ideal time to try out the academic circuit, though. Fall would be better. Good luck.
