Because I'm trying to keep the tread on friggin' topic for a specific question.. not discussing how big, small, or dense St. Louis is, or any other IT job that I'm not at all interested in doing for a living. I didn't mention the broad category of IT jobs for a reason - there are many of them I have no desire to work with, regardless of pay. I chose to specialize in writing code, and my original post states positions I'd be interested in working on.

Just like most threads in CD that ask specific questions, some people feel the need to completely run it off course. Of the 4 pages of posts, there is less than 1 page of replies on topic.

Thank you to the FEW people who actually replied with useful info regarding the TOPIC - single life in STL & software engineering/*programming* jobs.

I don't know anything the software engineering jobs in St Louis, but I do know a thing or two about the social scene. There is a big single scene in the city (Soulard, Tower Grove, Central West End, Downtown) I have a lot of single friends in the dating scene and they seem to do well. (upper 20's and 30's)
