Folks, I will be visiting St. Louis (my first time) for a conference and need recommendations for a reasonably priced motel/hotel. The conference is in the Millennium Hotel on S 4th Street. Is there an area where you have a stretch of options in a safe area? Don't need to be in the city center but within 30 minutes for an early morning start. Will be travelling on the I-44, so some place off that highway would be great.

Thanks for your help.

Depending on how reasonably priced you are talking, staying downtown would be the easiest suggestion. There are many many options as listed below. However, if that does not suit you, their are many hotels right off I-44 as soon as you hit the suburbs which would be around a half-hour drive. However, I am sure you can find a hotel downtown in your price range.

Downtown hotels:

Residence Inn
Crown Plaza
Hampton Inn
Hilton
Holliday Inn
Embassy Suites
The Westin
The Sheraton
The Drury
The Omni
The Millennium
The Wyndham
The Renaissance
Lumiere Place
Mariott

Thanks Metro. Don't want to spend $150-200 for 6 hours in a hotel room. From Google Maps, I see the Missouri Botanical Gardens just off I-44, which looks like an interesting area to stay. I have no clue about St. Louis and do not have the time to map out dangerous neighborhoods, so if there places along I-44 to avoid, I would appreciate the "heads up".

The Redroof Inn at Hampton is decent. There are a couple of others in that area as well. Also you may want to try the Days Inn or Best Western on Lindbergh in the Kirkwood area right off of 44. There is also a Best Western on Lindell in the West End, closer to downtown but probably more expensive.

Excellent. The Red Roof Inn could do the trick and it's reasonably priced. The Kirkwood area looks like it's a bit further out.
Thanks.

I didn't know there was a Red Roof Inn of Hampton, but Google and Kell has me corrected. This area (The Hill) is the Italian neighborhood and is very safe. Should be a good time.

There's a Drury Inn at Union Station. FUn place to stay with lots of security and dining options. I consider it a safe place as TONS of security and SUCH a St Louis experience!

It's less expensive than the one closer to the Arch AND... free breakfast, complimentary Happy Hour, and Business Center.
