I am driving again through St. Louis westbound to Denver on Saturday. Which is better and free of construction, I64 to I255 to I270 to I70 or I64 to I70 downtown? I looks like I64 from St. Louis to Westwood is under construction. Thanks!

When hitting the STL area, would you be coming from southeastern Missouri on 55 or from Illinois across the Mississippi? That would make a big difference.

Either will be fine I believe. The construction on 64 doesn't hit until around clayton/tamm, so the change to I70 downtown won't be an issue. I would probably take the first option, however, to avoid the traffic downtown, especially on the poplar.

Then I would just get on 70 at Downtown. Construction does not take effect until a few miles after that exchange.

Good call I-64 - I-70 downtown and 70 all the way through to Denver

I-70 Traffic gets a bit gnarly in St. Charles County between 4:30 and 5:30

There is construction going on where I-64 (40) connects with the 70 in Wentzville And traffic can back up at anytime of the say.

I don't think anyone suggested the Wentzville option because of construction. It was either 64 to 70 via downtown or 64 to 255 (just before E. STL) and then to 70. I like the 255 option because hitting 70 downtown via 64 can be obnoxious as traffic backs up from people trying to get on 44. The other option would be to take the MLK bridge over and get on 70. I like this option too, but they are shutting down the MLK for a time to do construction, so I am not sure it is viable.

Because of all the construction, 64 should just be considered a no go zone when planning a cross country trip. For the most part 70 is a pretty smooth ride through Missouri

I do understand there may by construction near KC.
